Your chicks will be purebred Marans (depending on availability in the given week) and/or purebred Welsummers, Olive eggers and occasionally blue-laying Frizzles as available and even isobel Araucanas.
They will grow up to lay a mix of chocolate browns, speckled light browns, blues, greens, possible pinks and a variety of olive shades including dark olives, the possibility of sage greys and speckled textures.
If a rainbow basket is your goal, you’ll be well on your way.

Please note: In 2026 some or all of the Marans pictured may be replaced with light speckled browns (Welsummers) depending on availability, and whites may be replaced with blues/olives.
IMPORTANT Before ordering, please read our description of our cuckoo Marans bloodline, and satisfy yourself that you are happy with its potential to throw occasional light-patterned birds among the cuckoos. This has no effect on egg colour and if you are wanting to create certain rare Marans varieties, this genetic variant can give you a starting point. If it bothers you, please don't order the Paintbox or, alternatively, you may wish to request your Cuckoo Marans be replaced with Welsummers.
