Our rooster is confirmed by DNA testing at Helix Technologies in New Zeland to be pure (homozygous) for the blue egg gene, meaning chicks that hatch from our eggs are guaranteed to lay blue. If you are intending to breed your birds forward, you will need to test your chicks to confirm which are homozygous for blue.
Cream Legbars are the trifecta: powder blue eggs, the cream gene and the rare autosexing trait.
Chicks are reliably autosexing, with males and females readily distinguishable at hatch by head spots and down colour.
We select for elegant crests set well back from the eyes, and upright combs.
